About the Author

Leonora Scott Muse Curtin had a lifelong interest in southwestern history and natural history, especially the use of plants by various ethnic groups. She was the author of numerous journal articles and four books on ethnobotany, including Healing Herbs of the Upper Rio Grande.

The text of By the Prophet of the Earth is a direct photographic reproduction of the first edition, designed by Merle Armitage and published in 1949 by the San Vicente Foundation, Willard H. Hougland, executive director in Santa Fe, New Mex.co.
