A CHAPAYEKA MARCHING IN FRONT OF THE CHURCH, by Dolores Martinez

Chapayekas wear big masks called "flower." Some, like this one, have large ears, long thin noses and short horns. Bits of red wool on the horns or ears represent flowers. Other masks have features resembling animals, birds, and human beings. Under the mask is worn a Yaqui rosary.
